Life in southern Spain
Docked in Cadiz for the Annual Maintenance Period

Sorry for the lack of updates since we've been here in Spain - life has been pretty busy with evenings and weekends spent off ship. We have spent 10 days in the commercial port, alongside the cruise ships and ferries, due to ongoing strike action in the shipyard. This has given us a privileged position a few minutes stroll from the centre of this beautiful old city of Cadiz.

We have done lots of exploring, including a lovely evening spent visiting the Cathedral and its tower followed by dinner in the Cathedral Square and another sharing tapas with new friends. Lots of beach visits, by bus, ferry and foot - bringing a lot of sand back in to our cabin! The sky has been blue and the sun has shone.

Today was a momentous day when we finally moved in to the shipyard; still easy to access town and even closer to the beach but the view is not so good! Church towers have been replaced by cranes. The plan is to enter dry dock on Wednesday afternoon, which will be a challenging process involving a loss of power for around 12 hours (they hope) - fairly significant as power is needed for everything including flushing the toilets.

Only one more week to go - plan is to fly from Gibraltar on Wednesday 16th - we are ready to come home and looking forward to seeing family and friends again xx
