Best hour of the day

Our first day on the ship and not having to work yet so we've done our best to see a little of what goes on (as well as unpacking and making our cabin into home for the next 3 months - more on that later).

So after dinner we took the opportunity to visit the LCU Ward (Low Care Unit), which all crew are welcome to do at set times in the morning and evening. It was a great opportunity to see the amazing things the medical team are doing for people here. We had much fun reading books with several of the children who's lives will be transformed by surgery to correct leg problems (like in the stock picture here). Certainly been my highlight of our first day on the ship - the children are expecting us back tomorrow so we better not disappoint! :-).

We can also visit the main surgical wards in the evening too, so looking forward to meeting some of the adults who have/are receiving life changing facial surgery as well.
